The ASCJ provides professional training and education leading to Rabbinical Ordination and
Cantorial Investiture.
While we started our adventure as a brick and mortar school, housed in a lovely Synagogue sanctuary
building, the changing times and the needs of our students, both present and future, dictate that we
needed to change.
Since our Seminary doors opened to students in 2004, we have prided ourselves as being different from the options previously available to those seeking to start or advance their professional and volunteer careers in the Jewish community, either as a first or second career.
The ASCJ differentiates itself by:
Providing a non-denominational, yet traditional and comprehensive curricula.
Incorporating a “hands-on” approach into coursework. We place a priority on getting our students
“up on their feet” and interacting with the community as soon as possible, while still students at ASCJ
and often in their first year.
Offering flexibility for students to tailor their course of study to fit their needs, goals, and schedules.
Making affordable education possible for working students to realize their goals and potential.
Having a Distance Learning Program to serve those unable to study at the campus due to distance or disability.
Using modern technologies in the education process permits us to retain the time honored and
centuries old techniques of a student studying “at the feet” of his mentor, while at the same time gaining
all the benefits of modern research abilities and communications. Use of available technologies means
that a student is no longer restricted to studying only with those mentors who live within his community.
We now have the ability to match mentors and students from various parts of the country so that each student will have the flexibility to study different topics with individuals who have specialized in their areas of interest.
Join us as we move forward in our vision to prepare Jewish leadership to meet the needs of the Jewish Community in the 21st Century. |
