Distance Learning
Computer network communication presents an effective environment and a wonderful replacement for the usual “brick and mortar” learning environment when the situation demands. This new and exciting method for furthering your education is referred to as Distance Learning and it is available to students at the ASCJ.
Many students–or prospective students–who are unable to take classes at the ASCJ campus due to distance or disability can take advantage of this program and not put their career or educational goals on hold.
Many of today’s foremost colleges and universities use this technology to advance the education of students who would otherwise not be able to study simply because of the logistics of where they live.Using a computer for on-line coursework is now an accepted method of learning and expanding one’s knowledge of the world around them. It is both challenging and exciting to take part in such a learning process.
The ASCJ’s courses have been enhanced for the computer. Additionally, a growing number of our courses allow for expanded study for the student on-line through a variety of related websites and internet connections.
We have established support services to help you move quickly and become accustomed to working and learning in the relatively new medium of technology and education. The Seminary will send you essential instructions for operating its communications software, using email, and interacting in a computer-based course of learning. User-friendly menus and help screens assist you in on-line activities.
How Does It Work?
If you have a personal computer and internet access, you can enroll in The ASCJ’s on-line coursework. For web-based courses, students use their own Internet Service Provider (ISP) and software to access the Seminary’s course website.
As an American Seminary for Contemporary Judaism student, you will be eligible to receive a Seminary On-line Account. With this computer account, you will be able to communicate easily, as your schedule permits, with your Advisor/Tutor and other students via email. In addition, you will have access to thousands of text-based resources via the internet.
The Seminary sees on-line technology as essential in the educational experience of our students, whether they are on-campus or across the country. We invite you to become part of our “internet family” as we continue to expand our learning programs and experiences for the on-line community.
The ASCJ Distance Learning Program offers Certifications in:
